When the ‘Steele Rubber’ hits the road with Chris Carlson Hot Rods for the 2019 SEMA Show!

We’re excited to be partnered with Chris Carlson Hot Rods (CCHR) on their latest build (and adventure!), a ‘53 Buick 2 door Convertible named “Jolene”. This vehicle is being designed and built to be a featured vehicle at the 2019 SEMA Show in Las Vegas this November. The unique, crazy, and scary thing about this build is that the crew at CCHR got a wild idea that not only are they going to build a show stopping cruiser, but they will also drive “Jolene” the 1,186 miles from their shop in Mulvane, Kansas to the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nevada!

Carlson and his son, Drew, plan on documenting the whole experience and posting on social media along the way. While talking about the idea, Drew said, “We’ve had 8 different customs and hot rods displayed at SEMA over the last 6 years, but this will be the first time we’ll be driving a show vehicle all the way there without any truck, trailer or support vehicle. It’s just going to be two dudes, a bag of tools and the open road, and we cannot be more excited!”

“Jolene” features a 401 Buick Nailhead backed with a 700R transmission, air ride with Accuair Suspension E-Leveling, RideTech shocks, Heidts Front Suspension, Vintage Air, Magnaflow stainless exhaust wrapped in DEI header wrap, BoomMat insulation, Dakota Digital gauges and cruise control, American Autowire, Rocket Racing wheels, Diamond Back Classics tires, PPG custom mixed paint, IDIDIT steering, a combination of brushed and polished nickel bright work by Ogden Chrome, ‘54 Chevy tail lights, some mild shaving of emblems and other custom touches, along with a complete custom interior by CCHR. All of these features will, of course, be protected and cushioned with a full set of Steele Rubber Products weatherstripping and seals.

We’ve partnered together with Chris Carlson Hot Rods on several award-winning builds in the past and there’s no doubt that “Jolene” will be another on that list. We hope that you will follow along with their journey to SEMA, it should be an interesting ride!

The journey begins 10/31/19- follow along on any of our social media pages to see how it all shakes out!
