For many years here at Steele we’ve been helping people find weatherstripping for their projects that don’t have an OEM replacement with our Universal Products line.
All you have to do is check out the profile of the weatherstrip you need replaced, compare it to the profiles online or in our Universal Parts catalog to find the right part. Or, if you don’t have your original available, determine your gap size and shape using the method in our previous blog post and order as much or as little as you need!
Every now and again we find solutions using our Universal products and through this blog series we’ll share those findings in hopes that if you run across the same need, you’ll be able to find a part from Steele to help!
Today we want to tell you about a specific application that works for a Hood to Cowl seal on an older White brand Tractor.
A hood to cowl weatherstrip seals the top of the firewall and the back edge of the hood. This weatherstrip typically runs the width of the vehicle and seals snugly to prevent fumes from entering the cab of the vehicle.
A gentleman called in because he wasn’t able to find an OEM replacement for his tractor. We listened to his request and sent him a universal catalog. He browsed the profiles and picked this one. We sent him a sample (free of charge) and he was able to determine that 9 feet of Steele part # 70-1662-99 would work perfectly for what he needed.
