For the 10th year in a row, we hosted an after-hours cruise in to celebrate our favorite holiday- National Collector Car Appreciation Day (CCAD)!
At the request of The SEMA Action Network, the U.S. Congress first recognized CCAD in 2010 as a way to raise awareness of the vital role that automotive restoration and collection plays in American society. The industry preserves our nation’s automotive heritage while also providing well-paying, high-skilled jobs nationwide. The U.S. Congress continues to help support CCAD by introducing resolutions each year to recognize the day’s significance.
This year CCAD fell on Friday, July 12th, 2019. The weather forecast wasn’t great but we prepared for the event- rain or shine.
At Steele we like to take this occasion as an opportunity to give back to the customers and the community that supports us. So, at our cruise-in we have free hot dogs with all the fixings, chips, drinks and even shaved ice! We also have a dj playing great music, and covered seating complete with cooling fans to try and keep everyone at a reasonable temperature (because July in NC is HOT!).
Typically this event brings in around 100 classic cars, trucks and hot rods (last year it was 120!). This year the rain did hit us but we still got around 60 cars! The attendees were all in good spirits and thankful for us to host another cruise in just like they enjoyed last year.
As employees, it was great to spend a few hours appreciating some awesome rides, our customers and friends that joined us and this great industry that gives us the opportunity to do what we all love to do.
No matter if you have a classic or not, get out there and go to a car show or a cruise-in! Take your family and enjoy the fellowship and fun that comes along with an event like this. You’ll be supporting a hobby and a community that we all love so much.
